Tracking, this is a fantastic part of SEO while also being very important. Tracking will allow you to measure the performance of your website, this allowing you to see amounts of visits, bounce rate percentages, errors and much more. In experience I can say that it is one of the many keys to succeed in SEO.
Google Analytics is one of the more popular ways for tracking. It is fairly straight forwards, free and has everything that you shall require. Knowing the numbers of a website will allow you to identify strong and weak points and apply work where needed. Example: If you can see over the month your search engine traffic has fallen you may need to change a few things!

Google Webmaster is another tracking tool that works along side Google Analytics. Webmaster provides you with data and diagnostics to help you have a very healthy and Google friendly site. If you have a website error such as google bot can’t access your site, Webmaster is the place to find it.
It will also highlight crawl errors, site map errors, page errors and many other critical errors that need to be resolved. One of the new updates that I really like is the new Disavow Links tool. This tool was recently released in Webmaster and allows you to control dead and low quality links pointing to your site.
