Here it is again, the famous SEO cliché “content is king”. The amount of times I have mentioned it on this blog you must be getting tired of hearing it but I cannot stress enough how important it is when it comes to SEO. Hence why that if you wish to have a successful campaign you need to know what content will rank well in the SERPs and also to generate more traffic which hopefully will turn into leads and sales.
As Google have openly come out a number of times and said that quality content is the way forward, this means writing for the user and not the search engine. Google can pick up when content is purposely heavy optimised for search engines via the keyword density and keyword distribution. Now I am not saying do not put the keyword in there just write your content naturally with a nice range of related keywords spread out through the article. DO NOT KEYWORD STUFF!
If you are a beginner to SEO then I would highly recommend you watch the webmaster videos by Matt Cutts.
As webmasters we have all read about the quantity vs quality content debate surely, Google wants content suitable for the reader so it has to relate to the search term a reader may put in to find your blog. Hence why quality and relevant content has become a big factor in Google’s eye to make sure the user has a good search experience. After the recent Google updates, content marketing is becoming more popular in SEO and will be for the foreseeable future meaning brushing up on your writing skills.
A thing you should bear in mind when writing content is navigation for the user, adding internal links is vital when wanting to rank highly. They have two purposes, links to other pages within your website helping the algorithm crawl to relevant pages more efficiently and also for the user to navigate the user. Both are factors to Google and therefore should not be ignored, the anchor text does not need to be keyword rich but a word(s) which is relevant to the page you are linking to.
Lastly, we need to promote the article to gain visibility. The easiest and most effective way of doing this would be to share it across all of your social media platforms and to get links from other websites and blogs relevant to your topic.
